The LS-DYNA Material Competence Center of DYNAmore moves into new facilities in Leinfelden-Echterdingen
Stuttgart/Leinfelden-Echterdingen, November 25th 2019
The LS-DYNA Material Competence Center (MCC) of DYNAmore has moved into its new facilities in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart. With the new location, the company expands its activities in the field of material characterization and sets the course for further growth in the future.
"Only the access to high-quality material data, if necessary up to damage and fracture, enables the successful calibration of material models", explains Professor André Haufe, Head of the LS-DYNA Material Competence Center. "With the new facilities, we have now created ideal conditions for further expanding our data acquisition from experiments and the efficient parameterization of material models as well as our related range of services," continues Haufe.
The MCC offers calibrated material cards and the best modeling techniques available for:
- Metallic materials up to fracture prediction (GISSMO, eGISSMO, DIEM, etc.)
- Polymers and composites (non-reinforced, short-fiber-reinforced, continuous-fiber-reinforced)
- Elastomers
- Glass (float, thermally or chemically tempered) and ceramic materials
- Joining technology (spot welds, laser welds, rivets, float drills, screws, adhesives, etc.)
The aim of the LS-DYNA Material Competence Center is to offer the entire engineering service from one source. Starting with the experimental procedure up to the delivery of material cards calibrated for the specific customer application. In addition to the generation of material cards for common and established materials, the MCC offers in particular the identification of parameters for the numerous extended and more complex material models in LS-DYNA.
"We coordinate the design of the experiments and combine this know-how with DYNAmore's many years of experience in applying our knowledge of material models in LS-DYNA and the necessary methods for its parameter identification," explains Ulrich Franz, Managing Director of DYNAmore GmbH.
The expertise of the LS-DYNA Material Competence Center also consists of the transfer of calibrated process data from component manufacture (injection moulding, extrusion, forming, heat treatment, hot forming, molding, solid forming, draping, etc.) into the following component simulation (crash, impact, stiffness, etc.). For this purpose, MCC experts typically use the process mapper Envyo, an in-house development of DYNAmore.
In case of special applications, e.g. high speed dynamics or thermo-mechanically coupled technological challenges, the LS-DYNA Material Competence Center cooperates with well-known and established material laboratories regarding the experimental scope of the investigations.
